William & Mary overcame three deficits Sunday to win a wild 15-14, 10-inning game against Campbell before 487 at Plumeri Park.
Derek Holmes’ RBI single capped a three-run rally by the Tribe in the bottom of the 10th inning, overcoming a two-run 10th by the Camels. In the ninth, W&M (15-24, 9-6 Coastal Athletic Association), which used nine pitchers, extended the game with a three-run inning that evened the score at 12. Campbell (16-23, 7-8) had led 5-0 and 11-6 earlier.
In the ninth, Jamie Laskofski’s double and Holmes’ single brought in runs before Anthony Greco’s tying sacrifice fly to left.
In the 10th, Christian Rush singled home Owen Wilson before Lucas Carmichael scored his fourth run of the day on a wild pitch, tying the game at 14. Holmes’ single down the left-field line, W&M’s 19th hit of the 4-hour, 41-minute game, brought home Rush to spark a celebration.
No. 12 North Carolina 7, Virginia Tech 4: The Tar Heels (31-9, 13-8 Atlantic Coast Conference) took control with a four-run seventh for a 7-2 lead over the Hokies (25-15, 10-11) before 1,395 in Blacksburg.
Virginia Tech used 11 pitchers. Cameron LeJeune (2-1), who took the loss by giving up five runs (four unearned), pitched the longest: two innings.
UNC’s Jackson Van De Brake was 3 for 6 with a run and three RBIs. Ben Watson led the Hokies by going 2 for 2 with two walks, a run and an RBI. David McCann hit a two-run homer for Tech in the eighth.
