Oregon baseball moves up in polls after taking series from UCLA

Oregon moved up in the polls after beating Georgetown and winning a weekend series against UCLA.

The Ducks (27-11, 14-7 Big Ten) are ranked No. 13 by d1baseball.com and Perfect Game, and No. 20 by Baseball America. A new coaches poll and NCBWA poll come out later Monday.

That’s up from No. 16 by d1baseball.com, No. 17 by Perfect Game and NCBWA, No. 18 in the coaches poll and No. 25 by Baseball America last week.

Oregon remains in third place in the Big Ten and is No. 45 in RPI, up from 57 last week. The Ducks are 5-1 in Quadrant 1 games, but 13-9 in Quadrant 3 and 9-1 in Quadrant 4.

The Ducks are hitting .301 on the season, third in the Big Ten, with a conference-leading 73 home runs. UO’s 4.52 team ERA is third overall in the Big Ten and sixth in conference play (5.33).

Mason Neville broke the program record for single-season home runs (19) in Sunday’s win over the Bruins and leads the Big Ten this season.

Oregon hosts Portland at 5 p.m. Tuesday before a four-game series with No. 3 Oregon State (30-7), with the first three at PK Park, beginning at 5 p.m. Friday.
