Denver offering gardeners free mulch and compost May 3

Denver residents can give their gardens a boost with free mulch and compost given away by the city’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure on May 3.

Mulched holiday trees collected through Denver’s Treecycle program will be available at three locations this year, according to a city news release:

  • Denver Central Platte Campus — 2000 W. Third Ave. Enter through the campus gates, head right at the stop sign and follow signage.
  • Cherry Creek Transfer Station — 7301 E. Jewell Ave. Enter on East Jewell Avenue.
  • Havana Nursery — 10450 Smith Road

A free loading service will also be available at Havana Nursery for trucks and small, single-axle trailers, and participants should bring their own rake or shovel, mulch container and truck or trailer tarps.
