“There might be a fight break out or something.”
Perhaps aware that they’re outmatched skill-wise, the Orlando Magic have taken a rather physical approach through three games against the Celtics.
Playing a bruising style that sometimes resembles football more than basketball, they’ve tried to impose their will and make Boston earn everything.
In Orlando’s 95-93 Game 3 victory over Boston on Friday, Magic guard Cole Anthony grabbed Jaylen Brown’s left arm and flung him to the ground in the second quarter. Brown, in obvious pain, clutched his hand as Anthony was whistled for a flagrant.
After the game, he revealed that he dislocated his left index finger before downplaying the setback.
“I got nine more,” Brown deadpanned, holding up both hands for proof.
Jayson Tatum took a hard fall in Game 1, Kristaps Porzingis a hit to the forehead in Game 2, and now Brown the latest blow in Game 3, among other incidents.
“There might be a fight break out or something,” Brown told reporters after Game 3. “It’s starting to feel like it’s not even basketball, and the refs is not controlling the environment.”
Brown said that if he could get away with it like the Magic have been, he would do it, too.
“You want to fight it out, we can do that,” Brown told reporters. “We can fight to see who goes to the second round.”
