The Hunterdon County Department of Veterans Services has launched its 2025 volunteer initiative to clean veterans’ headstones in the county. The first cleaning event took place today at the Readington Reformed Cemetery in Whitehouse Station.
For those who missed today’s opportunity to volunteer, there will be more chances to participate this year.
The upcoming cleaning events will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on the following dates:
- Saturday, May 24 — Frenchtown Cemetery, 53 Trenton Ave.
- Saturday, Sept. 13 — Fairmount Presbyterian Church, 253 Old Turnpike Road, Califon
- Saturday, Oct. 18 — Milford Union Cemetery, 105 County Road 519, Milford.
Volunteers will be provided with cleaning supplies and will receive training on proper headstone cleaning techniques. Those interested in participating can register by emailing veterans@co.hunterdon.nj.us.
