A La Grande woman was hurt when the car she was driving hit a bear on Interstate 84 near Huntington just before midnight on Thursday.
Patricia Wigginton, 36, was driving a Ford Fiesta with three passengers, ages 6, 15 and 16, according to a report from Oregon State Police Sgt. Peter Anderson.
Wigginton was driving west on the freeway near Milepost 351, at about 11:12 p.m. when her car hit a bear that was crossing the freeway.
The car spun onto the westbound shoulder and flipped onto its top, according Anderson’s report.
Wigginton was taken by LifeFlight helicopter with “serious injuries,” according to the report.
An ambulance transported the three passengers, who had “suspected serious to minor injuries,” according to the report.
The bear died from the collision, OSP said. The site is about 2 miles west of Farewell Bend.
