Morlang earned the win, striking out seven over five innings. Cade Howlett pitched the last two innings to secure the save. Wes Stubbe led the top-ranked Patriots at the plate with two hits and two RBIs. Graydon Ambrose added an RBI single.

#4 Hampton 1, Menchville 0

No. 4 Hampton ran its unbeaten string to start the season to 14 games with a 1-0 win over Menchville in eight innings in a Peninsula District game. Jacoby Flores drove in the game-winning run with a two-out sacrifice fly to right field in the bottom of the eighth for his 22nd RBI of the season.

CJ Williams led off the eighth for the Crabbers (14-0, 13-0 district) by reaching on a two-base error — the first of the game by the Monarchs (9-5, 8-5). He advanced to third base on a sacrifice bunt by Nate Peek, before Flores’ flyout that was likely deep enough to score the run. Menchville’s right fielder dropped the ball as he transferred it from his glove and Williams scored easily.

Both starters pitched 7 1/3 innings and were good. The Crabbers’ Toby Weymouth allowed six hits, struck out three and walked only one, while the Monarchs’ Luke Woodard allowed two hits, struck out seven and walked four.

Carter Walter scored a two-run home run as the Bruins improved to 12-4.

WP: Aidan Skalski (5-1)

Skalski, Mitchel Byers and Tre Hamilton combined on a one-hitter. Donovan Nagle and Connor Mais registered two hits each for the Dolphins (12-4).

#8 Grafton 1, Tabb 0

Colton Sandiford recorded the Clippers’ lone run with Cooper Bush earning the RBI.

#10 Greenbrier Christian 10, Isle of Wight 0

Zach Tew and Blake Thomas combined on a no-hitter and struck out nine. Hunter Langston finished with three hits. Thomas Conrad and Jackson Okonkwo each hit home runs for the Gators (21-4).

#11 Landstown 22, Salem 0

George Chevalier totaled 11 strikeouts in a one-hitter and added four RBIs at the plate. 10 additional Eagles drove in runs.

#12 Hickory 7, Lakeland 2

WP: Tommy Blackburn

Brayden Bachman went 2 for 2 as the Hawks defeated the Cavaliers.

#13 Grassfield 4, Oscar Smith 2

WP: Logan Shaw

Shaw totaled nine strikeouts and Bryce Edick earned the save. Jameson Dick finished with three hits and BJ McIntyre’s two-run single gave the Grizzlies the lead. Braden Copeland logged three hits including a home run for the losing Tigers. Dominick Zak struck out nine.

#14 Cape Henry 10, Norfolk Christian 0

The Dolphins were led in a TCIS quarterfinal shutout by Ryan Hummel with three hits and three RBIs, including a leadoff home run. Trajan Taylor pitched five innings, yielding only one hit and striking out eight. Cape Henry and Walsingham will play tomorrow, May 7 in the TCIS semifinals at War Memorial Stadium in Hampton at 4 p.m.

Beach District

Kempsville 2, Bayside 1

Cole Bergenholtz struck out 12 while giving up three hits and a run over seven innings. Sawyer Whitmore earned an RBI in the top of the seventh to put the Chiefs in the lead. Calvin Webb went 2 for 4 at the plate.

Princess Anne 16, Green Run 0

The Cavaliers were led by Xavier Doon and Chase Rutledge with two hits each. Walt Clevenger hit a home run.

Eastern District

Norview 17, Norcom 0

WP: Charlie Stelmaszek; LP: Davon Frutell

Stelmaszek struck out six batters and allowed no hits, no runs and no walks in three innings pitched. Jay Leigh and Johnny Moore went 3 for 3 at the plate for the Pilots (8-6).

Peninsula District

Denbigh 4, Kecoughtan 3

The Patriots walked it off in the bottom of the seventh to improve their record to 8-6. Hayden Radican pitched 6.2 innings with nine strikeouts. Trevor Foote went 3 for 3 with a double while Nicir Smith went 1 for 1 with a single.

Gloucester 11, Phoebus 0

WP. Brayden Scott

Scott struck out seven to earn the win. The Dukes’ offense collected 11 hits, led by Jesse Jackson, Hayden Simmons and Colter Callis.

Private schools

Norfolk Academy 8, Hampton Roads Academy 6

WP: John Benton; LP: Connor Muse

Peter Galiotos and Sam Light drove two runs each for the Bulldogs.

METRO CONFERENCE

No. 3 seed StoneBridge will meet No. 2 seed Atlantic Shores at Greenbrier Christian on Thursday, May 8 at 4 p.m. in the Metro Conference semifinals.

No. 4 seed Broadwater Academy will play at No. 1 seed Greenbrier Christian on Thursday, May 8 at 7 p.m. in the Metro Conference semifinals.

The championship match will take place on Friday, May 9 at 6:30 p.m. at Greenbrier Christian.

WP: Chase Hartford (6-1); LP: Calicia Mercado

Hartford struck out nine in five innings for the Grizzlies. Hartford and Hayden Russel each recorded a double with an RBI while Aubrey Mitchell went 1 for 1 with two RBIs.

WP: Jensyn Koonce

The Wildcats were led by Jensyn Koonce with four hits and four RBIs. Adelyn Palmer finished with three hits.

#8 Western Branch 15, King’s Fork 1

Kaileigh Taylor, Marissa Bernheimer and Anna Kerns recorded two hits each for the Bruins. Ava Giacometti struck out 10 and only allowed one hit.

Bayside 2, #10 Kempsville 1

WP: Kennedy Allen

Hannah Kirschman went 2 for 3 at the plate and drove in a run as the unranked Marlins upset the No. 10 Chiefs.

WP: Cori Evans

Lucy Domozick went 2 for 4 with three RBIs and a run scored as the Patriots upset the Falcons. MJ Haesler stole home in the second inning.

WP: Kyrsten Wells (5-2)

Wells and AJ Lomogda combined for a five-inning no hitter. Five Comets finished with two hits each.

WP: Lily Barham

Barham and Bailey Cockrell tallied two hits each. Barham also struck out nine, pitching the distance in the circle for the Hornets.

Hailey Lewis went 3 for 4 with three doubles for the Clippers. Lexi Henley went 2 for 3 with two RBIs while Emily Jackson went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI. The losing Tigers were represented by Alayna Davidson with a triple and three RBIs.

Landstown 8, Salem 2

Gabby Perez, Hailey Akers and Selah Harris each recorded multiple hits for the Eagles.

Peninsula District

Kecoughtan 18, Denbigh 2

Kylie Salyers pitched the first three innings, giving up zero hits and zero runs while striking out seven and walking one. Lucy Lively allowed two hits and two runs while striking out four and walking none. The Warriors were led offensively by Victoria Cieremans with three RBIs on a double and two singles. Grace McBride contributed two RBIs on two doubles and a single.

Catholic 15, Norfolk Academy 14

Onyebuka Okobi and Reagan Beard each tallied two RBIs for the Crusaders. Sophia Judd went 3 for 5 with three RBIs, including the game-winner.

Peninsula Catholic 21, Norfolk Christian 5

Quinn Freakley gave up two runs, struck out five and walked two in three innings. She has given up no more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. Freakley and Wilnette Torres both recorded triples, and the Knights stole seven total bases.

METRO CONFERENCE

No. 4 seed Hampton Christian will play at No. 1 seed Greenbrier Christian on Thursday, May 8 at 4:30 p.m. in a Metro Conference semifinals game.

No. 3 seed Atlantic Shores and No. 2 seed Broadwater will meet at Greenbrier Christian in the Metro Conference semifinals on Thursday, May 8 at 7 p.m.

The semifinals winners will play in the Metro Conference championship at Greenbrier Christian on Friday, May 9 at 5 p.m.

Norfolk Collegiate 20, Steward 10

Eliza VanNest led the Oaks with eight goals and an assist. Cate Wells tallied six goals with 11 draw controls. Norfolk Collegiate will play at Nansemond-Suffolk tomorrow, May 7 in the TCIS semifinals.

Landon Mainer, Tim Adams, and Noah Breidert all logged goals for the Wildcats. Coach Wright notched his 100th career victory in the win.

Jayda Sutton and Mailya Parks each scored hat tricks for the Bruins. Sasha Daniel, Kayah Prophete and Kayla Frierson logged a goal each.

The Grizzlies were led by Bella Franco with a brace. Lexi Ivey and Kennedy Reid contributed two assists each. Ally Quiroz added a goal and an assist. Other scorers included Dominique Sexton, Jillian Kemp, Aynara Salva and Cailyn Ruane. Peyton Fularon provided an assist.

The Hawks were led by Kayleigh Belton and Izzy Barrett with two goals each. Julia Delgado, Makenzie Gauthier and Zoe Cashman also scored. Sophia Kennedy and Kylie Casey combined for the clean sheet.

The Lions were led in their sixth-consecutive victory by sophomore Ava Alves with four goals. Payton Sickal scored once while Aubrey Gilliam, Sadie Snowden and Alicia Demartine each provided an assist. Goalkeeper Melody Menker earned her eighth shutout of the season.

Southeastern District

Nansemond River 3, Deep Creek 2

The Warriors were led by Mayleen Bernal with a goal and two assists. Chloe Jarmin and Marley Benson also scored, and Maria Perkins contributed an assist.

No. 4 seed Denbigh Baptist will play at No. 1 seed Atlantic Shores in the Metro Conference semifinals on Thursday, May 8 at 4:30 p.m.
