2 firefighters hurt, one critically, battling Monday fire in downtown Baltimore

Two firefighters were hospitalized Monday while battling a single-alarm blaze in downtown Baltimore, according to city fire officials.

One of the firefighters is in critical condition, while the other is in stable condition, according to fire department spokesperson John Marsh. He did not say how they were injured.

Crews had responded at about 12:30 p.m. to the fire on the 200 block of West Saratoga Street, according to Marsh.

The fire was under control about an hour later, though Saratoga Street will be closed from Liberty to Howard streets “for an extended period of time,” Marsh said Monday afternoon.
