The Roots is an American hip hop band led by beloved front man Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter and drummer Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson. The band rose to fame in the early 90s and has maintained cult-like popularity by participating in pop culture discourse, continuing to create well-received music, and acting as the house band for comedian and talk show host Jimmy Fallon.
