After climbing into playoff position with a five-match unbeaten streak in June and July, Real Salt Lake is sliding in the opposite direction.

RSL suffered its second straight loss — and third in its past four Major League Soccer games — on Saturday, falling to host Charlotte FC 1-0.

Idan Toklomati scored on a header in the 38th minute off a free kick from Ashley Westwood, and Charlotte won its sixth straight MLS game. Toklomati rose above a crowd in the box to score.

RSL had a 19-12 advantage in shots in the game, including a 7-2 edge in shots on goal.

Charlotte goalkeeper Kristijan Kahlina made seven saves, while RSL’s Rafael Cabral made one.

Charlotte improved to 14-11-2, good for sixth place in the Eastern Conference.

RSL (9-13-4) sat in 10th place in the West with several games still in progress Saturday evening.

RSL is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, Aug. 23, at home against Minnesota United FC (7:30 p.m., Apple TV).
