The National Weather Service has issued a coastal flooding alert statewide, effective from Tuesday afternoon to Thursday afternoon.
Forecasters expect peak monthly high tides, combined with water levels running higher than predicted, to lead to minor flooding along the shoreline and in low-lying coast areas starting as early as Tuesday afternoon.
The coastal flooding is expected to peak Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. Peak tides are expected during afternoons.
“Coastal flooding is possible around the daily peak tide,” NWS said in a statement, “which will be during the afternoon hours.”
Officials advise the public to avoid driving through flooded roadways, and to move electronics, vehicles, or other valuable to higher ground. Watercraft and canoes stowed on beaches should be secured during the coastal flooding event.
