Build Your Collection at the Inaugural AMFA Art Market

Art lovers are in for a rare treat this season with the debut of the AMFA Art Market.

Set for Sept. 6-7, this first-ever event will showcase more than 30 artist booths, giving shoppers the chance to take home one-of-a-kind pieces ranging from ceramics and fiber arts to sculpture and printmaking.

“The AMFA Art Market has been a vision in the making for years,” says Leon Robertson, AMFA’s manager of retail operations and Art Market director. “To finally see it come to life with such an inspiring group of artists from across the country is a dream realized. I am especially proud of the artistic diversity and depth represented, and I know our community will be energized by the experience.”

For those looking to add a little local flair to their collections, the museum’s Windgate Art School will also have a marketplace highlighting the work of “emerging Arkansas artists.” Some of the featured Little Rock artists include Joe Barnett (sculpture), Emma Chambers (ceramics), Abigail Henthorne (fiber art), Perrion Hurd (prints), Nisha Jaiswal (mixed media) and Laura Welshans (painting).

During the market, guests are also invited to a lineup of free art talks led by local gallerists Garbo Hearne of Hearne Fine Art, Cindy Scott-Huisman and Clarke Huisman of Cantrell Gallery, Mac Murphy of M2 Gallery and Greg Thompson of Greg Thompson Fine Art.

AMFA Members have the opportunity to meet artists and shop early on Friday, Sept. 5, while members of the AMFA Circle Society and corporate partners get to experience it all first at an exclusive opening reception on Thursday. Sept. 4.

General shopping hours will be 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Sunday.
