Construction is underway to build the second residential tower at The Park in Berkeley Heights, part of the $500 million transformation of the former corporate park.
Construction began in mid-October on RT600, a 149-unit luxury residential tower, according to The Connell Company.
The tower will feature amenities including a resort-style outdoor pool, rooftop entertainment lounge and deck, game room, co-working space and fitness center.
Local officials, including Berkeley Heights Mayor Angie Devanney, joined Connell Company executives at the groundbreaking ceremony.
The groundbreaking follows the recent topping out of The Park’s first residential tower, RT500, which will contain 179 units across 11 floors.
It also will feature a Cafe Exchange, a two-story social café offering coffee, fresh pastries and desserts, social spaces, a wine bar, and a book exchange.
The redevelopment plan includes 300,000 square feet of shopping, dining, and entertainment offerings anchored by a walkable main street.
The project, known as The District at The Park, is overseen by GS Ferguson as the owner’s representative, with SOCO Construction managing the RT600 building and the north side of District Drive, including RT500 and surrounding retail spaces.
The Park currently encompasses 1.5 million square feet of offices which are housing companies such as Samsung, L’Oreal, and Aon.
The 185-acre campus includes a 176-room Embassy Suites hotel, Fieldhouse fitness facility, Grain & Cane Restaurant, Starbucks, Lifetime Fitness, outdoor trails, and a co-working social club called Round Table Studios.
When complete, the two residential towers will add a total of 328 residential units to the complex.
