HAMPTON — A fast-moving automobile crashed off Interstate 664 Monday morning, state police said, killing its 22-year-old driver.
Virginia State Police investigators found that the vehicle, a 2020 Volkswagen, lost control and crossed all lanes of travel before striking a tree and culvert pipe on the right side of the northbound roadway near exit 2.
The driver was identified as Andre L. Yeager Jr. of Chesapeake. Authorities said he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
No additional details have been released. State police said as of Wednesday the crash remained under investigation.
