No. 18 Seton Hall Prep downs Cedar Grove to capture division title – Wrestling recap

Seton Hall Prep, No. 18 in the NJ.com Top 20, picked up bonus points in all but one of its 11 wins to cruise to a 55-12 win over Cedar Grove, in West Orange.

The win gave Seton Hall Prep (10-2) ownership of the SEC American division title. The Pirates are unbeaten in the division at 5-0.

Seton Hall Prep swept all bouts between 120 and 157.

Noah Hernandez (120), Joseph Viola (126) and Rocco Salerno (215) won by pin while Michael Pocius (150), Tyler Yildiz (144) and August Katz (157) recorded wins via tech fall.

Lorenzo Palescandolo took an 11-3 major decision win over Bryce Kent at heavyweight and at 106 William Jayden Ratz took a 13-5 major over Vincent Cassilli. At 138, Maksim Marrero earned an 11-8 decision over Richie Galioto.

Brandon Papa picked up a forfeit win at 175.

Tommy Sica earned a pin at 113 for Cedar Grove (13-3). George Dakar recorded a 13-12 decision win over David Lopez at 165 and Nicholas Costantini took a 3-2 decision over Kevin Rafferty at 190.
