Bard survives fourth-quarter surge to hold off Weequahic — Girls basketball recap

Taylor Jones and Takyiwah Otoo each scored 14 points to lead Bard to a narrow 42-41 victory over Weequahic in Newark.

Bard (12-10) held on despite being held to three points in the fourth quarter. A strong third proved to be the difference maker; Bard outscored Weequahic 22-14 in that period to build enough of a cushion to withstand its fourth-quarter scoring drought.

Bard’s Keimani Langley pulled down a game-high 16 rebounds. Jones complemented her scoring with five steals and four assists, while Matenin Camara contributed defensively with four blocks.

For Weequahic (11-8), Jasmine Agyeman-Budu led all scorers with 17 points, including two 3-pointers. Anaya Whitehead added 11 points and seven rebounds, while Asiya Whitehead controlled the glass with 10 rebounds and added two blocks.
