Girls Bowlers of the Week in every conference, Jan. 30-Feb. 5

With the state tournament on the horizon, the performances throughout the N.J. girls bowling community are rising to a new level on the lanes.

Here are the bowlers who stole the show in our conference bowlers of the week for Jan. 30 through Feb. 5.

Each week, NJ Advance Media will select Bowlers of the Week in every conference for both boys and girls, highlighting the best individual efforts around the state. Any matches bowled on Feb. 6 will be included in next week’s honors unless otherwise noted.

Note: Girls who bowl on boys/co-ed teams must have the “female participant” box checked on the roster on njschoolsports.com in order to be considered for the girls BOW.

Big North Conference

Hannah Kim, Bergen Tech, So.

In her last four dual matches, Kim (191 average) has recorded a 599 three-game set or better to help Bergen Tech improve to 15-1 on the season. The sophomore tallied back-to-back 600 series last week. She tallied a high series of 606 against Paterson Eastside and then recorded a three-game set of 601 in her next match against Fort Lee on Jan. 30.

Burlington County Scholastic League

Erin Mendoza, Burlington Township, So.

Mendoza tallied a season-best three-game set of 571 on Feb. 2 to help Burlington Township improve to 21-0 on the season. The sophomore also tallied a high series of 540 at the BCSL Bowling Open on Thursday.

Greater Middlesex Conference

Saisaanvi Bothala, Edison, Sr.

Bothala recorded a two-game set of 310 to help Edison defeat Carteret and advance to the quarterfinals of the GMC Team Tournament. Edison beat J.F.K Iselin on Feb. 4 to advance to the GMC semifinals.

Hudson County Interscholastic Athletic League

Sofy Arboleda, Union City, Sr.

Arboleda ran the stepladder to earn the title of queen of the HCIAL King/Queen Tournament on Thursday in Jersey City. The senior rose from the five-seed to win four straight games and claim the HCIAL girls title.

Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference

Kadee Bruno, High Point Sr.

Bruno raised her average to 194 on the lanes this winter with back-to-back three-game series over 600. The senior’s top performance came on Feb. 2 with a season-best three-game set of 666 to lead High Point to a 4-3 win over Mount Olive.

North Jersey Interscholastic Conference

Kitsho Dorjee, Lodi, So.

Behind Dorjee’s high series of 560 on Feb. 3, Lodi scored a 5-2 victory over Glen Rock. It marked the first time this season that Dorjee recorded over a 500 three-game series on the lanes.

Olympic Conference

Leanna Lescano, Cherry Hill East, Sr.

For the third time this season, Lescano tallied over a 600 three-game set on the lanes during the team’s dual match against Camden Catholic on Jan. 30. The senior also tallied a high game of 234 in the contest.

Shore Conference

Megan Keenan, Toms River South, Fr.

Keenan became a first-time SCT individual champion on Tuesday in Lakewood. The freshman tallied a 223 average on the lanes through her six games in the tournament to win the SCT girls title. Keenan also placed sixth last weekend at the New Jersey Singles Classic.

Skyland Conference

Raylyn Cook, Phillipsburg, Sr.

Cook led Phillipsburg to the team title at the Skyland Conference Championships on Wednesday with her high series of 542. It marks the fifth time since Jan. 13 that Cook has recorded a three-game set over 500.

Super Essex Conference

Jacklyn Burbach, North Arlington, Sr.

Over her last four dual matches, Burbach has averaged over 188 pins a game to help North Arlington improve to 20-2 on the season. Burbach racked up a high series of 611 on Feb. 2 against Eastern Christian, marking the third time this season the senior has recorded over a 600 three-game series.

Tri-County Conference

Audrey Harding, Gloucester, Sr.

Harding recorded two stellar performances in tournaments over the last week. The senior placed second over the weekend at the New Jersey Singles Classic, where she averaged 217 pins in her six games on the lanes. Harding helped Gloucester score a second-place finish at the Tri-County Conference Showcase on Feb. 4, tallying a high game of 257 and a three-game set of 711 during the tournament.
