RODEO
18-year-old rules in Coliseum bull riding
Elijah Jennings, 18, was the only rider to conquer two bulls on the weekend to win PBR Hampton on Saturday night at Hampton Coliseum, climbing to No. 2 on the Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour.
Jennings, from Marietta, South Carolina, won the Velocity Tour event in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in late January by riding two more bulls. That victory put him at No. 7 in the tour standings.
In Hampton, Jennings rode Poseidon for a weekend-high 87.1 points Friday and followed with 78.5 points on Hardy in Round 2 Saturday. He was shut out in the championship round, but his two scores were good enough for the win.
With 400 total points, he moved to No. 2 in the 2026 standings, 54 points behind Nick Tetz.
Joao Goncalves’ 86.10 points on Socks in a Box on Saturday – the best for the day – was good for second place in the event and 78 standings points.
