“In a Landscape: Classical Music in the Wild,” the outdoor classical music series known for staging piano concerts in natural and scenic settings, has released an early look at its upcoming tour. During the 2026 season a 9-foot Steinway grand piano will make its way across Oregon, the West Coast, the Mountain West and Canada.
The season began with winter concerts Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 at the Warren Miller Performing Arts Center in Big Sky, Montana, and runs through early September, with dozens of shows set in parks, gardens, deserts, vineyards and historic sites.
Oregon stops include Applegate Lake, Summer Lake Hot Springs, Fort Rock State Natural Area, the Alvord Desert, Drake Park, Silver Falls State Park, Shore Acres State Park, Dunes Meadow Park and Stoller Family Estate, among others. In Portland, concerts are scheduled for July 18 at Laurelhurst Park and July 19 at the Rose Garden Amphitheater. Find full information at inalandscape.org/events.
The concert series, created by Portland pianist Hunter Noack in 2016, features live classical performances delivered through wireless headphones, allowing guests to explore their surroundings while listening. The project aims to connect more people with music, nature and one another.
Noack serves as the series’ founder and artistic director, curating programs that range from Bach and Chopin to contemporary composers. Between pieces, he speaks directly to listeners through the headphone system, offering context about the music and the landscape hosting each performance.
Tickets go on sale to the general public at noon Feb. 18. Donors receive priority access beginning Feb. 13, with presale dates staggered by giving level. Donations must be received by Feb. 9 to qualify for presale access.
