Senior guard Ayden Rivera scored a game-high 20 points, hitting 11 free throws, to lead seventh-seeded North Bergen to a 61-51 home victory over 10th-seeded Hoboken in the second round of the Hudson County Tournament.
North Bergen advanced to the quarterfinals and will visit second-seeded Hudson Catholic on Monday, Feb. 16, with tip time to be announced.
Sophomore Daniel Maldonado added 12 points, all on three-pointers, and sophomore Jake E. Burgos contributed 11 points for North Bergen (10-13), who have won two of their last three games.
Senior Isaiah Blanks scored 14 points, hitting four three-pointers, and sophomores Samond Walker and Mike Casazza each added eight points for Hoboken (7-15), which has dropped six of their last seven games.
