A former Harford County Sheriff’s deputy who used a secret camera to record two teen girls in a bedroom and bathroom was sentenced Wednesday to 36 years in federal prison for sexually exploiting a child and possessing child sex abuse material, according to a news release from the Maryland U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Ryan Christopher Hall, 51, of Woodstock, Carroll County, pleaded guilty last year to sexually abusing two children for at least three years. Hall had been a domestic violence investigator and spent 27 years with the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.
Hall was originally charged in 2024 with the sex abuse, which took place in Carroll County and began before May 2017.
Thousands of sexually explicit images of the two girls were found in Hall’s vehicle, according to his plea agreement.
U.S. District Court Judge Brendan A. Hurson also sentenced Hall to a lifetime of supervised release after his 36 years in prison, and said he must register as a sex offender for life, according to the news release.
Aside from the federal case, Hall was also charged by Carroll County State’s Attorney’s Office with child pornography and sex abuse-related offenses. That case remains open and is scheduled for a hearing Friday, according to court records.
