Comedy ‘Golden Mean Girls’ to play Majestic Repertory Theatre

After a long journey from Africa, Cady Heron enrolls at Miami High, where she’s confronted by members of the school’s most feared clique: Dorothy, Rose, Blanche and Sophia.

It’s “Golden Girls” meets “Mean Girls.” And it’s done in drag.

Las Vegas-based playwright Jamie Morris debuted “Golden Mean Girls” last summer in Provincetown, Massachusetts. Now, he’s bringing it home for five performances at Majestic Repertory Theatre.

The mashup is Morris’ eighth comedy, following the likes of “The Devil Wears Payless” and “Gilligan’s Fire Island.” He also stars as Blanche Devereaux.

Performances are scheduled for 8 p.m. March 19 to 21 and 2 and 5 p.m. March 22 at 1217 S. Main St.

Tickets start at $33.85; eventbrite.com.
