What to expect at UAB’s 5th annual Arts Week
Each year, UAB’s College of Arts and Sciences invites students, faculty, staff, alumni and the greater Birmingham community to experience the arts on campus during Arts Week.

Here’s what you can expect at this year’s Arts Week (March 30-April 9) 👇
Monday, March 30 — PRISM Concert
UAB’s PRISM Concert is an annual music showcase featuring performances from both students and faculty in solo, chamber and large ensemble groups. Expect everything from classical and jazz to gospel and computer music, with a grand finale worthy of a standing ovation.
Thursday, April 2 — Faculty Open Studios
Get a behind-the-scenes look at the artistic spaces and methodology behind each faculty member’s process at the UAB Department of Art and Art History’s Faculty Open Studios.
Friday, April 3 — “Dear Evan Hansen” + Jazz Ensemble Spring Concert
Presented by Theatre UAB and Red Mountain Theatre, “Dear Evan Hansen” is a critically acclaimed, Tony Award-winning musical about a high school student with anxiety who invents a role for himself in the middle of a tragedy.
Hear from the finest student jazz musicians at the Jazz Ensemble Spring Concert, presented by the UAB Department of Music.
Tuesday, April 7 — BFA Exhibition
See the work of graduating students at the UAB Department of Art and Art History’s BFA Exhibition, open from Tuesday, April 7 through Saturday, May 2.
Wednesday, April 8 — Mersmann Poetry Awards
At the Mersmann Poetry Awards, students in the UAB Department of English will read both original and others’ poems. Prizes will be awarded to the best original poem and best-read poem by another poet.
Thursday, April 9 — Media and Film Open House, Magic City Shorts: Student Film Showcase + Honors Recital
Presented by UAB’s Department of History, Department of Communication Studies and Media Studies, the Media and Film Open House is an opportunity to learn about and see work from the Media and Film Programs at UAB.
Organized by the Filmmakers Club, Magic City Shorts is a showcase of student film and media work on campus.
