“We’re not joking … and we’re definitely not okay,” Medway Parks and Recreation said.
A head is on the loose in Medway. Don’t fret — it’s plastic. But Kevin would like it back.
The head of “Kevin Skellington,” a 12-foot-tall plastic skeleton that was temporarily placed behind the Medway Recreation Center at 123 Holliston St., went missing over the weekend.
Now, the Medway Police and Parks and Recreation departments are looking to get Kevin’s head back on his shoulders.
“We’re not joking … and we’re definitely not okay,” Medway Parks and Recreation said in a statement posted on social media. “Our beloved Kevin is currently beside himself — literally — as his head has gone missing.”
Kevin has been a staple at Choate Park since September 2023, where he’s dressed in themed costumes to mark holidays.
His head was last seen Friday, the Medway Police Department said in a statement posted on its social media. Its disappearance is being investigated as a larceny, police said.
The Parks and Recreation department said they are reviewing footage from the security cameras.
“If you’ve seen a large skeleton head wandering around (you’ll know it when you see it), please let us know,” the department said. “All jokes aside, we’d really appreciate any help getting Kevin back to his full self.”
One user on Facebook commented on the department’s statement, noting that the high winds on Monday could have caused the head to blow off.
“We’ve checked all over the property and still no luck,” the department replied. “It’s pretty heavy too, so it’s not something that could’ve gone far easily.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Medway police detectives at [email protected] or submit an anonymous tip.
“Help us make Kevin whole again,” police said.
