Occupant extricated from vehicle crash in Honolulu

Honolulu firefighters rescued a female occupant in a two-car accident near 1680 Kapiolani Blvd. on Saturday night.

HFD received a 911 call at 6:53 p.m. and responded to the accident with four units staffed with 15 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 6:58 p.m. with one occupant still trapped inside one of the vehicles. A female also was in the second vehicle.

HFD personnel stabilized the vehicle and used hydraulic rescue tools to extricate the occupant and transferred medical care to Honolulu Emergency Services Department at 7:13 p.m.

Both patients were listed in serious condition and treated for head, leg and upper body injuries and transferred to an emergency room.

One woman was 41 and the other was 77. EMS didn’t indicate which of the women had to be extricated from her vehicle.
