Wood Technology Center: A program worth saving

Re: “Proposal to sell Seattle’s Wood Technology Center draws protest” (March 24, Northwest):

At a time when we desperately need more builders, Seattle Community College is proposing shutting down the Wood Technology Center in the Central District and potentially selling the building and property. This makes absolutely no sense!

The program has been training students since before the college existed, is currently at full student capacity and has waiting lists to get in. Moreover, this bespoke campus with state-of-the-art facilities was reconstructed only 14 years ago. If the proposal goes through, our tax dollars would have been simply wasted.

Everyone knows that the state budget is tight, but this is one program that needs to be saved. Perhaps a full audit of Seattle Central College is needed instead.
