Third base prospect Ben Williamson is set to get his first taste of the majors.
The Mariners promoted the 24-year-old Williamson from Triple-A Tacoma prior to Sunday’s series finale against the Texas Rangers.
In a pair of corresponding moves, the Mariners optioned outfielder Dominic Canzone back to Tacoma and transferred second baseman Ryan Bliss (torn left biceps) to the 60-day injured list.
Williamson, ranked as the M’s No. 13 prospect by MLB Pipeline, had started all 14 games at third base this season for Tacoma, hitting .281 with six runs scored, eight RBI and two stolen bases in 60 plate appearances.
Last season between High-A Everett and Double-A Arkansas, Williamson hit .283 with four homers, 66 runs, 64 RBI and 19 stolen bases in 541 plate appearances.
