High pressure over the region will give Portland a few warm, dry, and sunny days through later in the week before rain returns just in time for the weekend.
The National Weather Service says high temperatures Tuesday will reach the low-to-mid 60s across the metro area and then climb to the low 70s on Wednesday.
The metro core is starting the day in the upper 30s as of about 5 a.m. and a frost advisory is still in effect through 9 a.m. in lowland areas excluding the inner cities. Sheltered rural valleys, like Gaston, Banks, parts of Gresham, rural areas outside of Oregon City, can expect some frost formation through the early morning hours prior to sunrise.
Portland will see a sunny day with high temps reaching about 65 degrees. Winds will be north/northwest at 5-8 mph.
More sunshine is in the forecast on Wednesday. Calm winds and sunny skies will warm the day to around 72 degrees.
Portland’s warmest day will likely be Thursday. High temps through the Willamette Valley are forecasted to reach the mid-to-upper 70s. There’s even a 15-35% chance Portland will flirt with 80 degrees.
If warm spring weather is your jam, make sure you soak it in on Thursday. Trends are taking a big turn as early as Thursday night. Although the confidence in the timing is still low, a series of wet systems are moving into the Pacific Northwest and should arrive (at the latest) sometime Friday.
Showers are likely Friday mostly after about the lunch hour. Skies will be mostly cloudy, and Portland could see a drop of about 20 degrees in the daytime high temp.
Extended forecasts are showing continued rain chances into the weekend with highs in the upper 50s.
