Candice Peck drove in an RBI as Toms River South was unable to defeat its out-of-state opponent at home, losing to Kellenberg (NY) 13-1 in six innings.
Kellenberg (NY) scored the first 13 runs of the game to invoke the mercy rule.
Charlotte Supino pitched two scoreless innings in relief for Toms River South (5-7), not allowing a hit.
Toms River South will return to facing in-state competition on Saturday in a road matchup against Freehold Borough.
