Michael Jordan will join NBC Sports as special contributor

He’s back … on NBC, that is.

Michael Jordan will join NBC Sports’ coverage of the NBA as a special contributor when the 2025-26 season begins in October. The network made the announcement Monday during NBCUniversal’s Upfront presentation at Radio City Music Hall in New York.

Jordan, arguably the greatest basketball player of all time, won six NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls. Those triumphs all aired on NBC, which will become an NBA broadcast rights partner again next season for the first time since 2002.

“I am so excited to see the NBA back on NBC,” said Jordan. “The NBA on NBC was a meaningful part of my career, and I’m excited about being a special contributor to the project. I’m looking forward to seeing you all when the NBA on NBC launches this October.”

Said NBC Sports president Rick Cordella: “Michael’s legacy both on and off the court speaks for itself. We’re incredibly proud to have him join our coverage.”

Specifics regarding Jordan’s role were not revealed. NBC’s 11-year rights deal with the NBA will include livestreamed exclusive national Monday night games, regional doubleheaders on NBC/Peacock on Tuesday nights, and “Sunday Night Basketball” across NBC and Peacock. ESPN/ABC and Amazon are the league’s other partners in the new rights deal.

NBC Sports previously announced that Reggie Miller and Jamal Crawford will be game analysts, Carmelo Anthony a studio analyst, and Mike Tirico and Noah Eagle play-by-play voices. More additions to NBC’s coverage are expected to be announced soon.
