Olympic gold medalist Sha’Carri Richardson is apologizing to her boyfriend after body camera footage of her pushing him led to her arrest in July.
In security camera footage obtained by TMZ Sports and posted Aug. 7, Richardson was seen pushing Christian Coleman, another track star, multiple times as they walked through Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in King County, Washington, on July 27. Coleman can be seen trying to walk away, but Richardson continues to get in his face, even shoving him into a wall at one point.
In body camera footage recently released by the Port of Seattle police, Richardson can be seen yelling at Coleman after officers approached her.
“Because he’s a coward and I don’t want anything to do with him from this point going forward. My name is Sha’Carri Richardson. I have no problem with letting you know who I am. Haven’t put my hands on him. We had an argument. I will be honest about that.”
The video also showed Richardson tried to plead her case that she did not touch Coleman and that she wanted nothing to do with him. Richardson was later arrested and charged with fourth-degree domestic violence assault, leading to a tearful plea from Richardson.
“Can you please take these off?” Richardson asked. “I am not a criminal. I had an argument with my boyfriend.”
The charge was later dropped after Coleman refused to cooperate with the case.
Richardson apologized to Coleman on Instagram on Tuesday, saying previous events in her life contributed to her actions.
“I apologize to Christian,” Richardson stated. “He came into my life and gave me more than a relationship but a greater understanding of unconditional love from what I’ve experienced in my past. Due to past trauma and pain, I was blind and blocked off to not only receive it but give it. I love him and to him I can’t apologize enough. My apology should be just as loud as my actions, honestly louder. To Christian, I love you and I am so sorry.”
