Sistas season 9 episode 5 ‘Heavy is the Crown’ recap

This week’s new episode showcased each of the sistas battling their own sets of demons, including Sabrina. Since the start of the season, Sabriana has been on a self-discovery mission, hoping to turn her life around positively. In doing so, she’s decided to confront her betrayers.

This week, those betrayers were Rich and Penelope, who found themselves at Sabrina’s office, hoping to reconcile. With her new state of mind, Sabriana stood her ground, shot down any hopes of reconciliation and kicked the pair out.

Meanwhile, Andi herself was busy at work as she continued digging deep into Dr. Cruz’s background. During the portion of her investigation that was shown in this week’s episode, Andi found disturbing information that revealed many of the doctor’s patients were found unresponsive at times while under his care. The new discovery sat with Andi and unfortunately reminded her of past trauma involving Jasmine.

Karen was also shown often during episode five as she continued to slip further and further into isolation by shutting herself in her bedroom and away from Aaron and her surviving baby. Viewers tuning in did see Karen take a giant step in her postpartum journey as she exited her room, but quickly returned after she heard the baby crying.

With no end in sight to Karen’s difficult grieving and postpartum journey, Aaron and Karen’s mother are beginning to worry not only about Karen’s grief journey but also her mental state.
