14th Annual Tinkerfest Returns to Museum of Discovery

From tinkerers to creators to crafters to makers, all hands-on learners can benefit from attending the 2025 Tinkerfest at the Museum of Discovery, regardless of age.

Now in its 14th year, the annual fun-filled event will take place on Saturday, Sept. 13, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Makers and artists will be in attendance to invite attendees to join in on the DIY fun and engage in hands-on tinkering and open-ended discovery.

Highlighting science, technology, engineering, art and creativity, tinkerers will reuse and reconstruct a variety of materials, learn new skills and explore ways to make things. There will be many activities for the whole family, plus a sensory station with activities for neurodivergent guests in a calming and soothing environment.

“The Museum of Discovery is a place for fun and learning. We think the two should be intertwined,” chief development officer Melissa Stiles told Little Rock Soirée in October 2024. “Science and technology centers like ours have become prevalent across the country and now the world because they offer families a unique opportunity to learn through play. The earlier a child is exposed to quality resources like these, inviting them to ask the ‘how’ and ‘why’ about the world around us, the better.”

Tinkerfest events are included in the museum’s daily admission: $14 for adults, $12 for children ages 1-12 and free for infants younger than 1. Seniors, teachers, Little Rock city employees and active and retired military are admitted for $10. Admission for SNAP recipients plus a group of five people is $2 per person.
