Authorities searching for 3 murder suspects in shooting of 20-year-old, prosector says

Three men are wanted for murder after a 20-year-old man was killed in a shooting in Millville Friday evening, the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office announced Sunday evening.

Millville police responded to High and Oak streets shortly before 7 p.m. and found a man, Thomas Smith III, with a gunshot wound to the head. He died a short time later, the office said.

The investigation led to charges against three men, none of whom were in custody as of Sunday night.

Jequise R. Forrest, 19, of Millville; Alonzo E. Mincey, 19, of Vineland; and Jerramiah J. Michael, 19, of Bridgeton have each been charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder and related firearm and aggravated assault charges.

“Despite ongoing efforts to locate Forrest, Mincey and Michael, they remain at large and should be considered armed and dangerous,” the prosecutor’s office said in an announcement. “Anyone with information about their whereabouts should not approach them and should contact law enforcement.”

Millville Detective John Butschky and prosecutor’s Detective Dalton Scola are the lead investigators.
