Woman suing bar says she was hurt by falling deer taxidermy

A South Boston woman who said she suffered a brain bleed after a bar’s taxidermy deer decor struck her head is suing the bar’s owner, according to a lawsuit filed in Suffolk County Superior Court. 

Kathryn Hally was at Lucky’s Lounge on Oct. 22, 2022 when she was allegedly hit in the head by a taxidermized deer head after it became dislodged from the wall, the complaint, filed Aug. 11, states. 

The complaint said the deer head was “negligently installed and/or maintained.”

Hally said she suffered a concussion, a brain bleed, and post-concussive symptoms for “months” after the incident, according to a cover sheet. 

She is seeking $171,159.23 from the bar for hospital expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering, the cover sheet said. 

Hally’s attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment. 

Lyons Group, Lucky’s Lounge’s parent company, has until Nov. 13 to respond to the lawsuit, court documents show.

Lucky’s Lounge, located at 355 Congress St., was established in 2001 and has a “Sinatra-inspired” speakeasy aesthetic, according to its website. 

Lyon’s Group is the parent company of 22 popular Boston venues, including Sonsie on Newbury Street and Bleacher Bar inside Fenway Park, according to its website.
