High Stakes Shootout Tennis Tournament Hits Burns Park This September

Tennis players, it’s time to serve up some good at the annual Southern High Stakes Shootout tennis tournament.

Hosted at the Burns Park Tennis Center from Sept. 19-21, the shootout is the only championship level four open tournament in the state to offer cash payouts to winners of every division. Singles, mixed and doubles tournaments are now open for both women and men competitors.

Proceeds from the tournament benefit the Arkansas Cup Tennis Foundation, a nonprofit that promotes tennis to the underserved and is an official partner of Special Olympics Arkansas. By playing and supporting, you help strengthen local adaptive tennis programs and provide adaptive athletes the opportunity to travel and compete in tournaments around the country.

On Friday, Sept. 19, a Special Olympics adaptive tennis clinic will be held from 5-6 p.m., as well as a fun event featuring Rachel Sweatt, one of the top-rated adaptive players in the country. Then, on Saturday evening, a players’ party night will invite participants to enjoy food and sip a Blueberry Grand Slam, a local take on the U.S. Open’s signature cocktail featuring Rock Town Distillery vodka. Wear your best glow-in-the-dark neon colors and play in the tennis pong cash tournament.

In 2024, more than 250 people from seven states participated in the tournament. It’s a great way to get involved in a great cause, while also having some competitive fun.
