Obituary: Richard W. Hoyt

Richard W. Hoyt

WESTBROOK – Richard W. Hoyt passed away unexpectedly at the age of 81 on Dec. 12, 2025, as he had always wished, at his home, on his favorite sofa, in the arms of his best friend and wife Doreen.

He was born and educated in Stamford, Conn. His career began at Clairol Corporation and was interrupted when he was drafted to serve in the U.S. Army. Richard was a distinguished member of the 4th Infantry Division while in combat in Vietnam and was a proud military veteran. When his service was complete, he resumed his career at Clairol in quality control until his retirement. He devoted much of his retirement as a leader to the Boy Scouts of America. Richard was a lifetime member of the VFW and an avid vegetable gardener where he found himself in constant competition with the deer.

Richard is survived by his best friend and wife Doreen (Fino). In addition, he is survived by Doreen’s son, Michael Bartlett and wife Traci of Poland.

This gentle man’s life will be celebrated on Dec. 20 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Dolby, Blais and Segee, 35 Church St., Westbrook with a reception to follow.
