Scarborough boys hockey nips Lewiston

Landyn Beretta scored the go-ahead goal on a power play midway through the third period as Scarborough earned a 3-2 win over Lewiston/Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse in a boys hockey game Monday at The Colisee in Lewiston.

Beretta also tied the game 1-1 in the first period, and Matthew Brown’s short-handed tally later in the period gave Scarborough (4-2-1) a 2-1 lead. Red Storm goalie Bryce Bellerose made 19 saves.

Jacoby Oliveira scored in the first period and Aizyk Laliberte got a second-period goal for the Blue Devils (6-3-1). Kai Stockford made 20 saves for Lewiston, which is ranked No. 4 in the Varsity Maine poll.

CAMDEN HILLS 7, HOULTON CO-OP 2: Joshua Hitchings and Blake Christie each potted two goals for the Windjammers (6-3) victory over Houlton/So. Aroostook/Hodgdon/Katahdin (1-6) at Millar Civic Center in Houlton.

Bridger Witbeck contributed a goal and two assists, Kylian Babik tallied a goal and an assist, and Barlow Marshall also scored for the Windjammers. Camden goalie Quinn Hoppin made nine saves.

Patrick Marino scored for the Houlton co-op and assisted on Jacob Bushy’s goal.

KENNEBUNK/WELLS 4, CAPE ELIZABETH 1: Jacob Corthell scored twice and assisted on another goal for Kennebunk/Wells (7-3-1) against the Capers (2-8) at Cross Insurance Arena in Portland.

Prescott Plourde and Liam Burke also scored for the Rams, and Richard Pocius made 19 saves.

Bennett Hooper scored for Cape Elizabeth. Cape goalie Owen Poshpeck stopped 20 shots.

GIRLS HOCKEY

PENOBSCOT 4, YORK CO-OP 0: The Pioneers (6-7) scored three times in the first period and shut out York/Traip/Marshwood/Noble (5-9) at Penobscot Ice Arena in Brewer.

Isabelle Brideau and Ella Davis each scored twice and recorded an assist. Abbie Derosier earned the shutout with 26 saves.

Keira Durgin stopped 24 shots for the York co-op.

GORHAM CO-OP 7, WINSLOW CO-OP 2: Carlin Galligan and Azalea Grant each recorded a hat trick and three assists for Gorham/Bonny Eagle/Massabesic/Westbrook/Fryeburg (8-7) in a win over Winslow/Gardiner/Cony/Lawrence/Messalonskee/Maranacook/Erskine (5-9-1) at USM Ice Arena in Gorham.

Lia Collins also scored for the Rams, who got 15 saves from Celina Doucette.

Molly Hambrick and Delana Ferran were the goal scorers for the Black Tigers. Emma Jean made 27 saves.

CHEVERUS CO-OP 3, CHEVERUS 1: Logan Curry scored twice for Cheverus/Old Orchard Beach/Windham (10-2-2) in a state championship rematch against the Dragons (8-7) at Sid Watson Arena in Brunswick.

Grace Townsend contributed a goal and two assists. Briella Doherty set up two goals.

Gillian Countway scored for Brunswick.

Ellie Skolnekovich made 16 saves in the win. Brunswick’s Hensleigh LaBonte stopped 25 shots.

BIDDEFORD CO-OP 6, FALMOUTH/SCARBOROUGH 0: Alexa Hubbard and McKenna Buchanan each recorded a goal and an assist for Biddeford/Thornton Academy/Kennebunk/Wells (11-4) in a win over Falmouth/Scarborough (3-9-2) at Family Ice Center in Falmouth.

Shyla McVeigh, Sophia Auger, Avery Kurkjy and Corinne Ramunno also scored.

Kaleigh Dorais earned the shutout by making 10 saves, while Tessa Woodbury made 26 saves for Falmouth/Scarborough.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

KENNEBUNK 53, DEERING 44: Riley Ewing scored 17 points, Kendall Therrien added 16, and Kennebunk (5-8) defeated Deering (3-10) in Portland.

The visitors also got 10 points from Kameron Therrien. Riley Ewing and Kendall Therrien each made three 3-pointers, and Kameron Therrien had two.

Angelina Keo paced Deering with 22 points.

BONNY EAGLE 38, PORTLAND 32: Kylie Cole made four late free throws to help the Scots (3-10) beat the Bulldogs (3-10) in Portland.

Cole finished with 14 points and Charlotte Beaulieu had eight points for Bonny Eagle.

Lawino Bendasta scored 12 points for Portland.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 66, RICHMOND 11: Reagan Partridge scored 13 of her 17 points during a 28-point second quarter that helped the Seagulls (8-4) pull away from the Bobcats (2-10) in Old Orchard Beach.

Corinne Androkitis finished with 26 points and Megan Dow scored 11 for Old Orchard, which extended an 8-2 lead after the first quarter to 36-7 by halftime.

YARMOUTH 44, FREEPORT 43: The Clippers (7-6) overcame a seven-point deficit after three quarters to beat the Falcons (6-7) in Freeport.

Rory Tompkins led Yarmouth with 14 points, while Evangeline Hagerty and Fiona John each scored nine.

Emily Groves got 17 of her 19 points in the first half for Freeport. Mary Ambila added 10 points.

BOYS BASKETBALL

PORTLAND 72, FALMOUTH 39: Lucas LeGage scored 12 of his 20 points in the second half as the Bulldogs (9-4) ran away from the Navigators (6-7) in Falmouth.

Louic Ramazani added 12 points and Maddoz Meas scored 10 for Portland.

Dominic Hau led Falmouth with 16 points. Connor Gooch added 11.

BONNY EAGLE 64, DEERING 48: Bonny Eagle (8-5) opened a double-digit lead in the first quarter and held off a challenge by the Rams (3-10) in the third quarter to prevail in Portland.

Max Bouchard and Colin Moran scored 18 points for the Scots, who led 21-10 after the first quarter. Logan Sturgis and Trevor Quincannon added 10 apiece.

Michel Butera scored 16 points to lead Deering, which pulled within 38-32 in the third quarter. Rayan Mohamud and Excellent Uwizeye each added 10 points.

CAPE ELIZABETH 69, TRAIP ACADEMY 46: Finn Connolly scored nine points in the third quarter as the Capers (6-7) pulled away to beat the Rangers (4-9) and earn their fourth straight win, in Cape Elizabeth.

Connolly finished with 17 points for Cape Elizabeth. Owen Beaureguard added 15 points and Tim Fredricks had 12.

Matt Long scored 13 and Max Jordan had 12 for Traip.

YARMOUTH 76, FREEPORT 55: Four players scored in double figures to lead the Clippers (10-3) past the Falcons (2-11) in Yarmouth.

Evan Oranellas led Yarmouth with 21 points. Ian Lawrence added 15, Adam Maxwell 13 and Matthew LeBlanc 11.

Ben Albertini scored 20 points and Drew Pound had 10 for Freeport.
