Rainbow Wahine shut down Long Beach State to earn 3rd straight 20-win season

Hawaii freshman guard Keiara Curtis scored 14 of her game-high 16 points in the second half and the Rainbow Wahine cruised to a 74-39 win over Long Beach State to end their regular season today at LBS Financial Credit Union Pyramid in Long Beach, Calif.

Saniyah Neverson added 15 points, seven rebounds and a career-high five steals and Imani Perez had 13 points on six shot attempts with eight rebounds and two blocks.

Hawaii improved to 20-10 to reach the 20-win mark for the third straight season and finishes 14-6 in Big West play with 14 wins in its last 15 games.

The Rainbow Wahine, who will be the No. 4 seed in the Credit Union 1 Big West Women’s Basketball Championship next week in Henderson, Nev., have won eight in a row.

Hawaii allowed a season-low 39 points to the Beach (5-25, 4-16), who were held to 26.8% shooting (15-for-56) from the field.

The Rainbow Wahine held the Beach scoreless for more than six minutes in the first quarter during a 17-0 run that put the game away just after it started.

UH’s first game in the BWC tournament will be Thursday at 9 a.m.
