Get ready to laugh at March’s Side Door Coffehouse in Brunswick

Comedian Adam Groppman will headline this month’s Side Door Coffeehouse open mic on Friday, March 13. Open mic sign-ups begin at 6:45 p.m., the show starts at 7 p.m. and Groppman goes on at 8:30 p.m.

Admission is $12 for adults and free for children 17 and under.

Groppman grew up in the Boston area and attended Reed College in Portland, Oregon. Upon returning to Boston after graduation, he had a variety of experiences, including being lead singer in a rock band called Furious George, working for Lotus Software and writing music journalism. But after taking an improvisational comedic acting class while living in San Francisco, he realized his mission in life is to be funny — or serious. Or seriously funny. In that vein, he moved to Los Angeles where he has acquired a taste for occasional light smog, melancholy arid beauty and Korean BBQ.

The Side Door Coffeehouse is a venue for local musicians and others (professional and amateur) to share their talents, and for residents and visitors of the Midcoast community to enjoy great entertainment and conversation in a relaxed setting. Organized by a group of volunteers from the Unitarian Universalist Church of Brunswick, the Side Door Coffeehouse operates on the second Friday of every month except August.
