Skyline service has been suspended between the Kualakai East Kapolei Station and the Pouhala Waipahu Transit Center Station due to power outages affecting portions of the system, city officials said at about 2:30 p.m.
Traction power that propels the trains through the third rail on the guideway remains operational, but several stations are operating on backup power due to the Hawaiian Electric Co. outages, according to the city’s Department of Transportation Services .
The stations running on backup power include Keoneae UH West Oahu, Hoaeae West Loch, Pouhala Waipahu Transit Center, and Halaulani Leeward Community College.
Skyline service between Halaulani Leeward Community College Station and Kahauiki Kalihi Transit Center Station continues to operate normally with trains running at 10-minute frequencies, officials said.
To assist affected riders, TheBus is operating replacement “bus bridge” services in both eastbound and westbound directions between Kualakai East Kapolei and Pouhala Waipahu Transit Center stations.
