New Movies Streaming

‘War Machine’ (2026)

Alan Ritchson, known for playing the larger-than-life protagonist of Prime Video’s “Reacher,” makes the jump to movies with Netflix’s “War Machine.” Ritchson plays a soldier suffering from PTSD who nevertheless excels at Army Ranger training. When he heads out on a final exercise, his team discovers a seemingly unstoppable war machine intent on eliminating anything in its path.

‘Zootopia 2’ (2025)

With the 2026 Oscars coming up this Sunday, now is your last chance to watch all of the nominated movies. The final film to arrive on streaming services ahead of the ceremony this week is Disney’s “Zootopia 2,” which finds Nick (Jason Bateman) and Judy (Ginnifer Goodwin) back on the police force but struggling to adapt as partners. Despite warnings from their chief (Idris Elba) the duo stick their fluffy little noses where they don’t belong, encountering a mystery that traces its roots back to the origins of the massive animal city.

New TV Shows Streaming

‘One Piece’ Season 2

Of Netflix’s three recent attempts at adapting iconic anime shows (the others being “Cowboy Bebop” and “Avatar: The Last Airbender”), the streamer fared best with “One Piece,” a nautical adventure about Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) and his band of pirate pals. This season, which still barely scratches the surface of the voluminous source material, finds Luffy and the Straw Hats in a stretch of dangerous water known as the Grand Line, featuring strange islands and stranger adversaries.

‘Rooster’ (2026)

Unlike last week’s new show about campus intrigue, Netflix’s “Vladimir,” HBO’s “Rooster” is aiming primarily for laughs rather than scandal. Steve Carell plays an author who needs a fresh start after his divorce, and he finds it on the college campus where his daughter (Charly Clive) works. Despite being a successful author of beach reads, Carell’s Greg Russo never actually went to college, so he gets to be big man on campus and try to offer guidance to Katie after her professor husband (Phil Dunster) leaves her for a grad student. The show comes from Bill Lawrence (“Ted Lasso,” “Scrubs”), so it has a surprising amount of heart and broad comedy for an HBO show.

‘Scarpetta’ (2026)

Nicole Kidman is everywhere these days, isn’t she? This time the Aussie actress plays a chief medical examiner who is looking into a murder that has odd ties to her very first case from decades ago. Based on the best-selling novel series by Patricia Cornwell, the show also features supporting turns from Jamie Lee Curtis, Bobby Cannavale, and Ariana DeBose.
