Here are Neon’s top picks for things to do in Las Vegas from Friday, March 20, through Thursday, March 26.
through the weekend
‘Golden Mean Girls’
After a long journey from Africa, Cady Heron enrolls at Miami High, where she’s confronted by members of the school’s most feared clique: Dorothy, Rose, Blanche and Sophia. It’s “Golden Girls” meets “Mean Girls.” And it’s done in drag. Catch Las Vegas-based playwright Jamie Morris’ comedy “Golden Mean Girls” at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 and 5 p.m. Sunday at Majestic Repertory Theatre, 1217 S. Main St. Tickets start at $33.85; majesticrepertory.com.
friday
‘Glitter & Glam Burlesque’
Glitter Gulch Tiki is hosting “Glitter & Glam Burlesque,” featuring multiple performances from burlesque dancer, contortionist and fire-breather Miss Lyra Angels. The free evening of vintage glamour and tropical cocktails is scheduled for 8 to 10 p.m. Friday at 113 N. Fourth St.
Puscifer
“Normal Isn’t” what Puscifer is all about, as the title of the alt-rock changelings’ latest album underscores. Founded by Tool/A Perfect Circle frontman Maynard James Keenan, the group instead favors an imaginative, ever-evolving blend of humor and musical experimentation that’s both melodic and far, far out. See them at 8 p.m. Friday at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan. Tickets start at $76.50; ticketmaster.com.
Vegas Unalive Festival
Die with a smile on your face — if you’re an extreme metal fan, that is — at the debut of the Vegas Unalive Fest featuring technical death metal heavyweights Decrepit Birth alongside fellow brutalists The Convalescene, Hunt the Dinosaur, Casket Robbery, Pessimist and dozens more at 7 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday at The Dive Bar, 4110 S. Maryland Parkway. Tickets are $35 on Friday, $65 on Saturday and $80 for a two-day pass; ticketor.com.
