18-year-old, 14-year-old arrested for armed robbery in Charlestown

A 18-year-old man and 14-year-old boy were arrested Wednesday in connection with an armed robbery in Charlestown, Boston police said.

Davonte Jordan, 18, and a 14-year-old boy were arrested Wednesday afternoon for allegedly pointing a gun at an elderly woman before stealing her purse, the Boston Police Department said in a press release Thursday.

Jordan is charged with armed masked robbery of an elderly person, receiving stolen property, and trespassing. The boy is charged with delinquent to wit armed masked robbery of an elderly person, receiving stolen property, and trespassing, BPD said. 

Police withheld the 14-year-old’s name due to his age.

Boston police responded to a call around 4:32 p.m. about an armed robbery near 22 Prospect St. in Charleston, the department said. 

The victim told officers that she was walking in the area of Adams Street and Mount Vernon Street when two males approached her from behind, BPD said. 

The woman alleged the two people pointed a gun at her and stole her purse with credit cards inside before fleeing towards Monument Square, police said.

A nearby witness told police he saw two males running in the area and gave a description of the suspects, BPD said.

Another witness said she found a purse with credit cards scattered in the back of a building on Chestnut Street and confirmed that the credit cards belonged to the victim, BPD said. 

Simultaneously, officers were dispatched to remove someone from a property in the area of 85 Monument St., police said.

When officers arrived, they noticed two people matching the description from the prior robbery. As police approached the pair, they immediately ran from officers, city police said.

After a short pursuit, police arrested the two in the area of 17 Carney Court and identified them as Jordan and the 14-year-old, police said.

 While booking the 14-year-old, police found the victim’s credit card, BPD said. 

Jordan pleaded not guilty during an arraignment Thursday and was held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing, court records show. An attorney listed for Jordan did not immediately respond to a request for comment Thursday night.
