The Ren celebrates their hard-won homecoming with a festive reception Friday

In a surprising bit of good news on an otherwise unlucky Friday the 13th, Ivanhoe Village performing-arts hub the Renaissance Theatre Co. announced last week that they had passed final inspections with the city and would reopen that very day.

And in fact they did in high style, announcing a Homecoming Week series of special events. The glittering gem in that comeback crown will likely be Saturday’s gala reception and fundraiser.

Hard details are scant, but expect familiar (Ren) faces, visiting dignitaries, flowing libations and teary eyes — and more than likely, a drag show featuring some of Off the Record’s most glamorous. Many glasses will be raised.

8 p.m. Friday, March 20, Renaissance Theatre Co., 415 E. Princeton St., rentheatre.com, $27-$102.
