Honolulu police arrested a 33-year-old man early this morning on suspicion of kidnapping a 24-year-old woman in Aiea.
At about 3:30 a.m., the man argued with his girlfriend inside his vehicle, police said. He allegedly assaulted the woman, who exited of the vehicle and fled on foot, according to a Honolulu Police Department summary of the incident.
The suspect caught up with the woman, assaulted her again, forced her back into the vehicle, and slammed the vehicle door on her ankle, police alleged. He drove off with the woman still in the vehicle and she called 911 on her cellphone, according to HPD.
He eventually drove the woman back to her apartment, police said, and responding officers arrested him at 5:11 a.m. on suspicion of kidnapping, a felony, on Wai Nani Way in Waikiki.
