Portland police say the city saw seven suspected overdoses over the weekend, prompting them to issue a warning about potentially potent drugs in the community.
The police department issued a public safety alert on social media Sunday afternoon, urging people to “take immediate precautions” when using drugs.
Police cautioned that drugs might be contaminated with fentanyl or other dangerous additives, and encouraged community members to carry naloxone, an opioid-overdose antidote.
Signs that someone may have overdosed include breathing issues, unconsciousness, blue or gray lips and fingertips as well as gurgling or choking sounds, according to police.
