Mother’s Day is almost here, Birmingham. Don’t forget—it’s Sunday, May 10!
We’ve rounded up some great ways to celebrate the moms and mother figures in your life this weekend, from delicious brunch spots to relaxing spa days and fun outings you can enjoy together.
Treat mom to a nice meal
A Mother’s Day brunch
Habitat Feed & Social, on top of the ever-posh Grand Bohemian Hotel, is giving away a Mother’s Day brunch for four people. This is the time to splurge on a great meal and treat mom to something fancy. Head to our Instagram for details and how to enter.
Find more brunch spots across Bham—many are serving up special Mother’s Day menus.
A bottle of something special

Toast to mom with an expertly curated glass (or bottle) at Golden Age Wine. Their original Mountain Brook Village location features a bottle shop and outdoor seating, while their newer Wine Garden downtown is more of a sip-and-be-seen spot to soak in the lively atmosphere together.
Both locales offer delicious charcuterie and snacks designed to complement the pours.
What to get mom: Wines by the glass, charcuterie + thoughtful gifts.
An invigorating cup of coffee

Explore Birmingham’s vibrant coffee scene with some local favorites—there are 47 around Birmingham! Find one within walking distance and take mom for a coffee walk.
A dinner she won’t forget

Treat mom to a culinary night out at some of Birmingham’s best foodie spots. Tip: Most fine dining restaurants are closed on Sundays, so consider an IOU for a future night out—a great way to avoid the crowds, too!
- Helen: Southern cuisine steeped in memories + classic flavors reimagined. Grab a seat at the bar to soak it all in, and you’ll see why this spot is gaining national recognition. Don’t miss the Angel biscuits!
- Bottega: Chef Frank Stitt is a legend in Birmingham for good reason. While he has several great options to choose from, we suggest taking mom to Bottega. Depending on your budget, you can select the classic dining room for an upscale Italian experience, or go casual at the café side for a perfect pizza straight from the wood-fired oven.
- Hot and Hot Fish Club: Offers Southern-inspired seafood and innovative flavors making this a splurge-worthy dinner spot. With summer just around the corner, you can’t go wrong with their famous tomato salad.
A treat as sweet as she is

If you’re on a budget or have a mom with a sweet tooth, these are three of my mom’s favorite spots to grab a treat at any time of day:
- Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams
- Mountain Brook & Edgewood Creameries
- K & J’s Elegant Pastries
Check out some other places where you can take mom to get a sweet treat.
Pamper mom with some “me” (+ you!) time
A relaxing headspa treatment

The special mom in your life deserves a moment to unwind. Why not let her try this trending type of self-care, a head spa experience? After sampling it out for a recent story, I want to take my mom to Well Head Spa, where she can indulge in luxurious scalp and hair treatments. It’s the perfect way to show appreciation + care.
Pedicure or manicure
Give mom the gift of relaxation with a signature manicure or pedicure at one of my favorite spots, Basecoat on Fifth Nail Spa. This chic, modern salon offers a tranquil setting for her to unwind and feel pampered. Plus—who doesn’t love a matching mani/pedi?
A literal glow-up

Pamper mom with a skincare treatment at Cahaba Dermatology, where she can enjoy services that enhance and maintain healthy skin, ensuring a radiant complexion.
Services: facials, peels, hydra facials + dermatology services. More details.
Mockingbird Day Spa
Enjoy a relaxing spa day with your mom this Mother’s Day. Complete with warm lighting, cozy couches, and moody decor, each space at Mockingbird Day Spa is intentionally curated to give you (and mom) a peaceful spa day.
See some of our favorite services for you and mom at Mockingbird Day Spa.
Flower shop delivery

Brighten mom’s day with a beautiful bouquet from Birmingham’s Norton’s Florist, a local florist delivering fresh, vibrant floral arrangements to celebrate Mother’s Day. They’ve been in the biz for more than 100 years… that’s a lot of moms!
Something a little sparkly

Gift her timeless sparkle with a piece of jewelry from your favorite jeweler. Whether it’s a new bracelet, ring or necklace, she will be so thrilled. I like Diamonds Direct because they have new items or can also do resets of family heirlooms if you were looking to upgrade something mom already has!
Psst… they have a deal going on right now until May 3 where your whole cart is 20% off.
Schedule a hang with mom
Try your hand at pickleball

Get active with mom at City Walk BHAM’s pickleball courts—fun, competitive and perfect for all skill levels. This is a fun and free acitity for you and mom to do together on Mother’s Day.
A picnic in the park

Pack a blanket and enjoy an afternoon among the blooms or beside the lake with mom. Perfect for photos and peaceful time together.
Here are some other places you could take mom for a picnic.
Shopping is your cardio

The love the outdoor vibe (and excuse to call it exercise!) at The Summit, and you can explore all of the boutiques, beauty stores and brunch spots together.
Tip: Look for Mother’s Day deals at stores like Anthropologie, Kendra Scott and LUSH.
A special afternoon tea event
Treat her to an elegant afternoon tea experience at Lilly’s Cup, complete with delicate bites and floral décor for an exciting Mother’s Day celebration.
Mother’s Day Markets

It’s a great time of year to stroll the farmers’ market or a special outdoor market for unique, crafty finds. Here are 19 across Birmingham you can try.
For new moms
Babypalooza, a free baby expo, is designed for new and expecting parents. You can attend expert-led pregnancy and parenting seminars, demo the latest baby gear, connect with local maternity and newborn resources and enjoy a citywide baby shower with prizes.
