Kwame Onwuachi’s Maroon debuts with grand party — PHOTOS

One of the most highly anticipated restaurant openings of the year in Las Vegas took place Friday at the Sahara, with Maroon bringing together all the things and people.

The new restaurant, from acclaimed chef Kwame Onwuachi, blends classic American steakhouse traditions with Afro-Caribbean flavors and techniques. Live-fire preparation and a glowing custom jerk pit anchor the cooking at Maroon, with a menu of steaks, seafood and vibrant sides complemented by signature spice blends.

The chef, who also owns Tatiana in Manhattan and Dōgon in Washington, D.C., is a James Beard Award winner and a Food & Wine magazine Best New Chef, among many other accolades.

Here are some images from Maroon’s debut.
