Travis Pastrana pops into off-Strip casino for a stunt show

It was a different Strip, and different sort of motorcycle stunt, to kick off a day of daredevil activity in Las Vegas.

Famed motorcycle stunt performer Travis Pastrana wheeled into and through Boulder Station early Sunday morning. This was a pop-up event, as Pastrana performed a few cycle stunts as he blew through the main casino toward the Railhead entertainment venue before veering right.

This was likely the loudest event at the Railhead since Vegas rockers Slaughter shook the club 14 years ago. Gamblers are shown continuing their games as Pastrana — helmeted and in his competition leathers — wheeled past.

In video furnished by Nitro Circus reps, a woman in a red shirt is playing blackjack (seems unsuccessfully) barely reacts as Pastrana races past.

The presentation was coincidentally (cough) staged just hours before motocross hero Colby Raha was to attempt a jump across the Caesars Palace fountains. That event was set to mark the Omnia Dayclub & Skybar opening weekend at the resort.

Pastrana’s Boulder strip pop-in was to promote the upcoming “Nitro Circus 2.0” summer tour. The stunt was also his only scheduled appearance in Las Vegas this year. The tour is not performing in Vegas.

Pastrana is a Nitro Circus co-founder, dating to its launch in 2003. The brand is under the Thrill One sports umbrella. Station Casino owners Frank Fertitta III and Lorenzo Fertitta are shareholders in that company, hence the Boulder Station cross-promotional platform.

This is not the first time Pastrana has been involved in a Vegas motorcycle stunt, of course.

We were there in July 2018 when the stunt showman successfully leapt across 52 crushed cars, then 16 Greyhound buses lined up behind Planet Hollywood, Paris and Bally’s. Pastrana finished the event by easily clearing the Caesars Palace fountains.

This was an anticlimactic moment for the folks who had just been watching video highlights of the motocross legend spinning and flipping over giant dirt mounds in his Supercross performances.

Pastrana was promoting the Nitro Circus live show at Jubilee Theater at Bally’s, the Horseshoe today. If you’re not aware of that show, there’s a reason. It never got off the ground. But Pastrana did, and still does, a star of stunts on the bike and for publicity.
